The GSN Project is extremely technical, ranging from power measurement to federated cloud management. However, the purpose of all this technology is to catalyze a sea change in the economics of ICT service provision, by making GHGs a first class factor for both customers and service providers. GSN will directly address a fundamental unit of carbon business – generation of carbon credits -- and will create the open environment in which green ICT services can be offered and obtained.
